It's a Doilie kind of Day!

Yesterday was such a cranky moody day. This morning i decided not to waste today like i did the previous day. Today was going to be a lovely day. Been listening to upbeat music to get in a cheery mood! Went for lunch with my sister Diane, and on the walk ran into this:

A beautiful doilie chillin' out max with a dandelion! I left the doilie there cuz that's where it was meant to be. It really is a beautiful life though isn't it!

Here are some songs and videos that make me feel happy!

Something Else by Diamond Rings. This song is so cute. I didn't care for it at first, but now i'm so into it.

I love this song Here Comes Your Man by the pixies, but i also love Joseph Gordon Levitt's version in the movie 500 Days of Summer. this song is "about winos and hobos traveling on the trains, who die in the California Earthquake"

I'm also really hopped up on lavender oil and osmanthus oil.

Syringe Jello 'Shots'

Syringe jello shots for my trash rock themed birthday party last weekend. I don't remember much of it. I think that means it was a blast.

I like these Knorr pack over Jello cuz they tend to have more of an exotic flavour. but jello is fine too. I did Pineapple with the Malibu, and Honeydew with Stoli Blueberry.

You can get syringes w/o needles at any pharmacy for around 30cents a pop. these were 10ml ones.
For each packet of jello, use one cup of boiling water and one cup of liquor. I watered it down with more liquor cuz i was worried the jello might be too hard, and i like my drinks strong.
I only bought 40 syringes, so i had leftover jello for normal shots.

Creme Brulee Recipe sooo easy!

I love creme brulee so much. So much that one year, the girls at my old work got me a blow torch for my birthday. I love trying it at restaurants that offer it. So far the best iv'e ever had was at Sweet Revenge, and that's pretty much the best one aside from mine. Yeah, this recipe is all that and a bag of crisps!!! But i already knew that.

You will need:

  • 8 egg yolks (you can keep the whites in the freezer for future use)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • vanilla bean
  • 2 1/2 cup heavy cream (i use whipping cream)
  • blow torch (there are other ways to do this w/o torch, but its not FUN, so i will not tell u)
  • ramekins, or if you're cool like me, random dishes. i got these from daiso! the small ones make for great portion control.
  • baking pan
  • 10cups of FUN!

heat cream split vanilla bean til almost boiling. turn off heat. let sit for 15 minutes to infuse the vanilla bean.

scrape pods with knife along edge of pot, and mix with the cream. discard pod.

meanwhile, mix yolks with sugar

 assemble dishes in baking pan

slowly stir cream into egg mixturse. pour mixture back into pot through a strainer and divide into dishes

fill baking pan with warm water till almost but not too much to the top of the dish

throw into 350 degree oven for about 25minutes or until knife comes out clean. you know what i mean?

let cool. then keep in fridge for at least 2 hours. it tastes best a day after. even better the next next day!

throw some sugar on top and torch the hell out of it.

There are many things you can do with this recipe. Add cubes of pear or raspberries on the bottom. Mix with cocoa powder and chili. Lavender. Bacon.
